The town of Polvijärvi is located in Eastern Finland, in the
region of North Karelia, just next to the beautiful, clear watered Lake
Höytiäinen.
Its area is 958,35 square km (369.89 square miles), of which 154,21
square km (59.46 square miles) is water. Its population is 4764.
The most important buildings in the town center are the churches and the town
museum.
Polvijärvi also has a school with 139 students taught by
13 teachers in the grades one through six. The school´s headmistress and
principal is Helena Hirvonen.
